Area Management

Various functions for Areas allow for ease of use and effective management and use of those areas and their features (e.g., events, saved filters).

General Navigation

To see a list of the areas you have created, click on the Areas menu on the left corner of the menu bar. 

For each Area, clicking on will focus the map on that area.

Clicking on the arrow to the right of the Area name will expand the settings for each area to reveal three parts: Saved Filters, Events and Area.

This article will only discuss the Areas tab. For the Saved Filters tab, see the “Saved Filters, Alerts”  article. For the Events tab, see the “Entry and Speed Range events” article. 

Area Tab

The Area tab contains the basic information about each area and various functions. From top left, down, to the right:

Copy - Create a duplicate of the area on your map. The copy is editable until saved as a new Area. The new Area will not inherit any enabled events or saved filters/alerts.

Delete - Clicking “Delete” will prompt a confirmation to delete the area. Deleting an area is permanent.

Area name - View or edit the name of your area.

Description - View or edit the description of your area.

Copy to clipboard:

  • Coordinates - Copying the coordinates, which can then can be shared/used to create the same Area shape by colleagues/partners in their Skylight account or in other platforms.
  • Id - The Id can be shared for technical troubleshooting.

For all changes made, you can “Cancel” or “Save Changes” made for a specific area.
