Overview
The Skylight web-platform is one of several ways to access data and insights produced by Skylight. Other technology platforms (Seavision, IORIS, YARIS, EarthRanger, etc.) include Skylight data.
Skylight web platform
The skylight web platform has two views: Map view and Vessel details and history page.
Map view
The map shows Events (vessel behaviors and detections). Vessel track data is available for events and within a limited area. The map view is not a replacement for a vessel tracking tool, like Marine Traffic or Seavision, since it focuses on behaviors/events of potential interest, not all vessel positions.
Refresh bar / Skylight logo
The top bar shows how long since the last data load. Skylight does not refresh automatically, so that it does not interrupt or clear your work or analysis. The platform can be refreshed by clicking “refresh now" which will keep the map view and settings the same.

Vessel Details
The Vessel Details page is available for all vessels known to Skylight.
The page includes data about the vessel from AIS and partners (e.g., Global Fishing Watch). The last 18 months of the vessel's Skylight event history is also available.
More details about this page in the Vessel Details section.
In the follow sections and articles, you will learn more about all the functions and features in the web platform.
